Its been a fascinating rollercoaster ride through the peaks and valleys of the life that led up to today.
Today I stood back and looked at the body of work I have laid out for tomorrows Studio Opening.
I must admit, it was with a great amount of pride that I sat painting after painting on easels and looked at them for the hundredth (or more) time and thought…”I love that, it is beautiful and makes me feel good looking at it”
The paintings that are shown together as the “Elemental Woman Series” are very obviously different sides of women in the dimension of emotions, love, the senses, spirituality, nature, sexuality, and power.
They range from a black and gold naked image with her head thrown back in ecstasy called “Blow My Mind” to an ethereal goddess floating above the clouds…(Astral Rasta”) There is a Coil haired maiden in headphones riding upon a glistening dripping carpet of music floating through the spheres (“Sonic Carpet”) and “Neptunes Daughter” moves the tides her way.
They all were painted in succession, all bear the one common feature, a spine that is visible from the outside. I believe these arrived at a time when I was meeting my selves, in all of their diversity and glory. The orange and green intense and chaotic colors of “Scorpio Rising” show another female image rising, spine exposed, almost as if it had lifted itself out of an earthly body to freedom.
This collection is very special to me and stir wonderful feelings of beauty and power and liberation. I hope they will stir feelings in the viewer that will make them stop and ponder the image a moment and feel their own interpretation.
